Out Of Trend

If we had to do… …a psychoanalytic exercise of course, because of my
“uhmm” teenage years… …so I, like another teenagers… …we built our world of
fantasy and illusion… …and some guys went for one thing,
some guys went for another, I myself went for… …the sixties in California,
surf music, surfing “WE DON’T REPAIR EPOXY SURFBOARDS” Maybe I could have taken
to make guitars, making replicas of
Fender Stratocaster… …with pickups that
sound in the same way, …or amplifiers… …or I could have gotten into Hot Rods As for me, real surf… …was  60’s surfing… …and the current surfing… …of the 90’s and 2000’s… …didn’t mean anything What happens is that… …I try to be… …completely isolated… …from the trends… …I rather focus on… …making my boards the most
technical and aesthetically true… …to what was done in the 60’s “WE ONLY MAKE REPLICAS OF
SURFBOARDS FROM 1959 TO 1979…” “…A REPLICA IS NOT AN IMITATION” Well, when I make a surfboard… …I get a bit closer to that fantasy… …although, as years go by,… …well, you mature,
you are a grown man… …and you realize that
fantasies are fantasies And besides that, we want
to refer to those times, those times no longer exist today, maybe they will never exist, but it is a way to escape from reality, this reality that perhaps,
since I was a teenager… It was impossible to manage
in a healthy and coherent way – Folks! – That you are distracting me! – I think you’re distracting
yourself too fast
